The 5th annual Interact District Conference is being held this year on Saturday, February 24, at Perry High School, 1919 E. Queen Creek Road, Gilbert. The 20-member Interact District Council, under the leadership of District Governor Loralli Johnson, has been hard at work planning and preparing for this event and its multiple breakout sessions. The IDC is expecting at least 500 Interactors, Rotaractors and Club Advisors to gather in Gilbert for this high-energy, fast-paced one-day annual event.

David Talbot, founder and CEO of the Rotarian nonprofit organization Crutches 4 Africa, our Interact District’s partner in what has become their signature project, will be featured as the morning speaker. Kaley Gilmore, former Interactor, RYLArian, Rotary Youth Exchange alumna—now Rotarian— who is doing a such a fantastic job as the Inbound Chair for our Rotary Youth Exchange program, will be speaking from her experience to the conference crowd in the afternoon about how to make the most of the golden opportunities Rotary has to offer youth today.

Other conference features will include the top three videos entered by the Interact clubs in the annual District Video Contest, the awarding of the Clubs of Distinction recognitions, and the highly anticipated announcement and introduction of this year’s five Arizona Interact Ambassadors to Kenya, along with the first and second alternates, who will have been chosen by that time. Again, the hand-on service project will be the wrapping for shipping of the crutches and other mobility devices the clubs have collected to send to Kenya in a 40-ft. shipping container.

The Registration Deadline is February 15, and the cost is $25 per person, including lunch. Registration is online via our Interact website www.rotaryazinteract.org. It is worth noting that both the Interactors’ website, along with their online registration program, were created by one of last year’s Interact District Governors.

Rotarians are welcome to register for and attend the entire conference, or to just drop by and check out this super-exciting and inspiring event.
