96th Ripple of Peace: Use self-knowledge to foster Peace.
Self-knowledge is an important element in sustaining Peace, both within ourselves and in our relationships with others. The more we are aware of our whole selves, including both the shadow and the soul, the more able we are to make conscious choices about interacting with others that are consistent with our visions of Peace.
Make it a habit to identify your motives for acting in certain ways in your life. Look for patterns and seek to understand your underlying thoughts and feelings. Accept and love both the negative and the positive that exist within you. And learn to listen and respond to the deepest, truest aspect of yourself.
You may choose to seek professional counseling to more fully know yourself.
Use your knowledge of your true self to deepen your relationships with others in your community and to further your work for Peace.

May you know and be Peace.
Dear Friends of Peace,
Now that you have learned how to use self-knowledge to foster Peace, you are prepared to practice the:
97th Ripple of Peace: Be an audience for uplifting news stories, television programs, movies, magazines, and books.
We live in a profit driven economy. As consumers of goods and services that produce sought after profits, we have considerable power to influence what those products are. This is especially true when it comes to various forms of entertainment. With a concerted effort on the part of sufficient numbers of us, it could be true for the news.
Be mindful of the news and television programs you watch, the movies you see and the magazines and books you buy. Before becoming an audience for any of these things ask yourself the following question. Are the images and words in this (news or television program, movie, publication) likely to enhance or detract from my sense of Peace?
Act accordingly. Be an audience for Peace.

98th Ripple of Peace: Contact your representatives about your ideas for Peace.
The constitution of the United States, written in 1787, opens with the phrase, "We the people of the United States ..." Today we are those people, and it is both our right and responsibility to make our thoughts and wishes known to those whom we have elected to act on our behalf.
Let your local, state and federal representatives know what you think and how you feel about Peace. Write letters, make calls and send emails concerning your point of view and your expectations for their actions.
Ask your representatives to address the difficult questions associated with attaining Peace, such as the following:
In what ways is military action a viable option for creating and sustaining Peace?
What are the underlying causes of terrorism and what can we do to eradicate them?
How can we help people who have known only conflict and war to envision and embrace Peace?
