On July 8th the Rotary Club of Surprise Sunset hosted a post-July 4th special meeting to honor their partnership with
The Colonnade by presenting flags from the five military branches - Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard - to Dan Liguori, Executive Director of the Colonnade. Members of the Rotary Club carried their respective flags to the stage while others in the audience stood in honor of their particular branch of service. Bud Hesterman, celebrating his 90th birthday that evening, told stories and sang from an impressive repertoire of military songs he has performed on stage and TV while an enthralled audience sang along.
The evening was capped by the showing of the outstanding video posted on the Internet of the Rotary Four-Way Test that Jacob Stuckey created at age 11, and afterward the now 12 year-old answered questions about his work posed by proud grandfather Dick Stuckey. President Kathy Linton thanked the many Rotary Members who assisted with the evening and those who procured and carried the flags during the ceremony. Our Rotary Assistant Governor, Ken Parsons, was there to share in our excitement!
