It is truly an honor to serve as your District Governor for Rotary District 5495 during the 2026–27 Rotary year.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving Rotary in many roles, including several terms as a club president, assistant governor, district committee member, trainer, and facilitator. Each of those experiences has strengthened my belief that Rotary is at its best when we listen to one another, work together, and stay focused on meaningful service. Under this year’s theme, “Lead with Purpose. Serve with Impact,” I look forward to visiting our clubs, meeting more of our members, celebrating your successes, and helping our clubs grow stronger and more connected.
We have an exciting year ahead. Our goals include meaningful membership growth, increased support for The Rotary Foundation, stronger public awareness of Rotary, expanded leadership education, and greater collaboration among our clubs.
We will also continue building Rotary Means Business, expanding our Rotary-sponsored Red Cross blood drives, strengthening Rotaract and Interact, promoting Rotary Direct and Foundation recognition, increasing participation in Rotary Connections and the Rotary Leadership Academy, and preparing for our Joint District Conference with District 5300 in Laughlin.
Another important district fundraiser is the Arizona Rotary License Plate program. I encourage every Rotarian who is eligible to participate, because a portion of the initial motor vehicle fee and the annual renewal fees are returned to the District each year. These funds help support our youth programs and give more young people opportunities to participate in Interact, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Exchange, RYLA, and other Rotary-sponsored leadership and service activities.
I am especially grateful for the hard work and dedication of Past District Governor Jim Schmidt, District Governor-Elect Colleen Coons, District Governor-Nominee Teresa Haire, and my Chief of Staff, Stephen Phair. Their commitment to our 67 clubs and 2,031 active Rotarians, honorary Rotarians, and Rotaractors is deeply appreciated.
